XP Disk Cleanup

As part of our Windows® XP preventive maintenance regular maintenance,periodic removal of old files and unused fragments is critical for keeping your PC running smoothly. Disk Cleanup determines which files on a hard drive may no longer be needed and deletes those files, freeing up a potentially significant amount of space. Please note: do this procedure before you use the disk Deframentation utility. Starting Disk CleanupDisk Cleanup is available on Windows® XP. To start Disk Cleanup, click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup. You will then be prompted to choose the particular drive you want to clean up- usually your “C” drive. Disk Cleanup will analyze the selected drive and determine the amount of space it can free up. One thing to remember: This analysis may take several minutes, so be patient.Disk Cleanup then presents you a list of the file categories it can clean up. Disk Cleanup identifies file types that may no longer be needed.
